After 250,000 people joined the call for Coca-Cola, PepsiCo and Associated British Foods, three of the biggest players in the sugar industry to make sure the sugar in their food and drinks doesn’t lead to land grabs, Coca-Cola committed to take steps to stop land grabs in their supply chain. Now it’s time to push Pepsi and ABF to do the same.
Show that you #StandforLand in solidarity with those affected by land grabs.
The ground under your feet may feel solid. But in countries like Brazil and Cambodia it doesn’t. Communities are at risk of being kicked off their land by companies that supply sugar to the world’s biggest food companies.
Your action is changing this. Already, Coke has committed to take steps to stop land grabs in its supply chain. This is a huge success! But, despite over 32,000 direct emails to Pepsi’s inbox and the delivery of petition signatures to Pepsi HQs across the world, Pepsi and ABF are yet to take action.
Now it’s time to step up the pressure on Pepsi and ABF. Their policies are so slack that they don’t seem to know if their sugar is grown on grabbed land, and they’re not doing enough to change this.
That’s where you (and your feet) come in. We want to show these companies how many people across the world want them to act. And to do so, we’ve joined forces with EyeEm, the world’s first high quality mobile photography community and marketplace.
It’s easy to join in. Just download the free app, take a photo of your feet in your favourite place, tag it with “Stand for Land” and send it to the companies by sharing your photo on Twitter with the tweet below.
Your photo will be sent to ABF and PepsiCo to show your support for the campaign. And at the end of the project your photo will be collated with all of the other entries from around the world to create an advertising and art installation which will be sent to the companies to demonstrate the global movement of people standing in solidarity with those affected by land grabs.
You can be as creative and original as you like. There are some amazing prizes for the best photos – so get snapping!
